Famous for its denim, Cheap Monday has unveiled an adventurous take on streetwear for Autumn/Winter ’16. The Swedish brand established itself in the European fashion world in 2004 at the peak of the skinny jean craze, releasing a lauded collection of high-quality denim rivalling the original LA denim that introduced skinny jeans to the world. For this season, now available at The Hut, Cheap Monday has delivered its own unique and distinctly European take on the streetwear aesthetic that has taken over from skinny jeans to be the hottest trend of the moment. Alongside year-round staples in the way of printed tees and cotton jersey sweatshirts, the brand’s latest lookbook shows off a colourful offering incorporating vibrant knits, original new prints and timeless pieces such as MA-1 bomber jackets given a contemporary makeover with texturing or new patterns.
While the collection at large provides an exciting new take on European streetwear, Cheap Monday’s denim remains its timeless self. Virtually unchanged since its 2004 debut, the brand continues to craft its iconic TIGHT jeans using unwashed denim to give that signature skinny silhouette. Cut with a mid-rise, the jeans are finished off with the original buttons, rivets and Cheap Monday skull to the waistband patch—as they were first produced over 10 years ago.
