It’s holiday season, and we are so ready for some sun, sea and sand. We’ve finally chosen our perfect holiday destination, packed our hand luggage, and planned our itinerary – but we’ve still not found that wow-factor swimsuit.

Need some more inspiration? Explore The Hut Summer Shop here.

Not sure what style of swimwear is best for your figure? Don’t panic – we’re on hand with the definitive guide to the dos and don’ts of poolside glamour. Read on to discover your body type, and which looks are right for you – plus some seriously stylish bikinis, swimsuits and cover-ups to drool over…

Triangle Figure

If you’re a bootylicious triangle shape, your hips are curvy with narrower shoulders. Keep your bottoms a block colour, but play with patterns, ruffles, embellishments and prints up top – pair the Mara Hoffman Starbasket Bikini Top with a pair of simple black briefs. Stay away from boy shorts though, as they’ll make your bottom half look bulky.

Apple Figure

Those with an apple shaped silhouette are super feminine and shapely – your legs and hips are your narrowest parts, with your bust and stomach the widest. Draw attention to your slender legs with a high cut swimsuit – the MinkPink Pepper and Splice Low Back One Pieceis fabulous for showing off your figure. Avoid delicate triangle bikini tops, as they can make your shoulders look wider than they are!

Hourglass Figure

If you’ve got an hourglass shape – a smaller waist, with wider hips and shoulders – opt for vintage inspired, high-waisted bikinis to accentuate those Marilyn Monroe curves. TheMinkPink After Dark Ring Side Bikiniis perfect for making the most of your shape, but make sure to stay away from mismatched colours or prints – it’ll make you look disproportionate.

Inverted Triangle Figure

With a larger bust, but slender waist and narrow hips, inverted triangles should make sure they’re choosing a bikini with ample support. Halternecks are great for this, and we’re a little in love with the Mara Hoffman Halter Swimsuit in aloe print. Remember to steer clear of bandeau styles, though – they offer limited support and will make your assets look oversized.

Athletic Figure

You’ve got a beautifully toned and taut figure – so it’s time to show it off! Give the illusion of defined curves with frills, busy patterns and cut-outs, and choose high-leg styles that emphasise your silhouette. We like the Mara Hoffman Knot Front Swimsuit – it’s a serious statement for the beach. Whilst you can get away with most styles, bandeau tops aren’t the most flattering – halternecks or those with straps are your friend!
